 GC-MS Headspace Sampling

The purpose of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry headspace sampling is to extract potential volatiles from the headspace of plants growing in a growth media in an air-tight glass bottle.

So far we have tested the following plants:

  • Lima bean

We did not obtain any volatiles with lima bean.

In the future we plan to test:

  • Rice
  • Barley
  • Lima bean (again)
  • The growth media

Headspace sampling is prepared in Harsh's lab and carried out in DuPont Hall.
